SDSU students have access to a variety of electronic accounts and resources — many of which they will access daily. They are often the primary gateways to important academic information and communication from the university, professors and advisors.

We recommend that you activate and familiarize yourself with these accounts prior to registering for classes through SDSU. Be sure to track your login information, and keep it in a safe and accessible spot for future reference.

Your Official University Email Address

Jacks email is not just your average email service. It is an interactive technology available to all students free of charge. The benefits of using Jacks email extend beyond writing messages. You can also:

  • Utilize Office 365 to collaborate on group projects and save documents in one common location.
  • Keep a personal address book.
  • Organize your schedule using the calendar feature.
  • Save important documents, pictures, messages and contacts with unlimited amounts of storage.
  • Stop worrying about updating your email address — you can continue to use Jacks email even after you graduate.

Keep in mind that all SDSU-related business will be conducted here. It's where registration and billing notices, class announcements and messages from your instructors will be sent, so check it daily to make sure you don't miss any important information.

How To Setup a Secondary Email Address

What is my secondary email address?

In most cases, your secondary email is the email address you included on your application to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. It could also be the email you received your acceptance letter or any other correspondence from the university.

How can I update my secondary email address?

Log in to , click Dashboard and go to My Current Profile. Once there, under your email, it should have the option to Change Secondary Email. This will take you to Self Service, where it shows your personal information. On the second screen, there should be a box that says personal details at the top, the next one down says email and you can update your secondary email address there.


Name Changes

To update your name, sign in to , go to My Current Profile and click the Change Name button beneath your name. 


Account Lockouts

Three incorrect login attempts anywhere the user enters their username and password will lock a user out of their SDSU account. This can occur after a user resets their password. It may update on their computer but not their phone. The phone will continually lock it out because the password has not been updated. The lockouts can occur on any device (phone, tablet, desktop, laptop, etc.).

If you are having account lockout issues, you can make sure an old password isn't saved on a device. Make sure that when you are getting locked out that you are not changing your password every time. This can cause even more issues.
