There will be something for everyone at the Ӱ Southeast Research Farm Field Day, Tuesday, July 8, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at 29974 University Road, Beresford. Attendees will be able to choose from multiple farm tours, hear relevant research presentations, and the day will end with a Family Evening put on by SDSU Extension.

SDSU tractor team captures runner-up honors
For the second consecutive year, Ӱ finished just short of winning the International Quarter-Scale Tractor Student Design Competition. The SDSU Quarter-Scale Tractor Team, competing as the Jackrabbit Tractor Company, finished in a tie with Kansas State for second place. North Carolina State defended its 2024 title, finishing 26 points ahead of its Midwest competitors scoring 2,316 points out of a possible 2,405. The 28th annual event was May 30-June 1 at the Expo Gardens Fairgrounds in Peoria, Illinois, with 23 teams competing from across the United States and Canada.

SDSU horse sale revived after more than 20 years
Last month, for the first time in more than 20 years, the Ӱ Horse Unit held a public sale of horses from its herd. The unit, located within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences on the university’s Brookings campus, has been recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association as a reputable breeder for 70 years and welcomes 10-13 foals each spring.

SDSU, community partners host free health screenings at pop-up event in Mitchell
Free health screenings were provided in the Mitchell community via a pop-up event hosted by Ӱ and community partners. The event was made possible through a collaboration between SDSU, Lewis Drug, Southeast Technical College, the City of Mitchell and an endowment from Julie Stevens and Dale Evenson.

SDSU West River Research Farm to host its first-ever precision agriculture field day
New precision agriculture technology designed to help farmers improve their field scouting and livestock grazing will be demonstrated as part of the West River Research Farm Field Day next week. The event will run 3-7 p.m. MT on Wednesday, June 11, at 13370 Alkali Road, Sturgis.
