For First-Generation Students
What is a first-generation student? A student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) do not have a bachelor's degree. If that's you, we're here to help!
Did you know? 54% of undergraduate students in the U.S. are first generation. 60% of first-generation students were also the first sibling in their family to go to college.
You are not alone. Here at SDState, there are 2,816 undergraduate students and 147 graduate students — all first generation!
Check out The Collegian Report coverage of the First-Generation College Celebration Day events! The Collegian is the student run newspaper at SDState and has been going strong for over 140 years!
Don't forget to check our more what the Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center, TRIO Programs and the Student Success NETwork have to offer you!
